Shape 4




The design on the left is the original. We were to use the same guidelines as before, except this time we were supposed to keep the essence of the square.

The gaol was the same for this design except we had to create an abstract, non-objective design.

We had to cut a 4x4 in. square up and create a flat, non-objective design on a white 8in x 10in white ground. We were supposed to destroy the identity of the square.

The goal of this exercise was to explore figure-ground relationship and possibilities of mark making. Our name was the inspiration for these "marks", but wasn't supposed to be readable at first glance. We were supposed to express emotion in our marks..(example: caotic marks, calm marks, thin/thick lines, etc.)
